It doesn't make you a dick necessarily, but it does make you a bit hypocritical. Maybe you should try to work out why you're feeling that way.

It would put him in the position of arguing my case with all his friends and they would likely think him manipulated by myself in some way. I think it's better for everyone if I say nothing. After all, like I said, I don't enjoy classic dating anyway and I'm not eager to obtain anything of the sort from him.

Hey, it's fine. It sounds like this has been on your mind for a long time.

Look, I don't know who this person is or what they're like. But I can tell you that, as someone who's been on the receiving end of being 'protected' by not being given all the information? The truth goes a long way. If this person is special to you, whether that's in a long-term way or not, then you owe them that. What they choose to do with that information is up to them to decide.

I'd say just be honest. Say what you want and what you don't want. It's better than quietly stewing about it.
That never fixes anything.
