[He shrugged, reaching for his glass of wine to hold up to her.]

[She picked up her own glass to softly clink it against his before taking a sip.]

Having your whole mojo thing probably helps, too. Honestly, though, Lucifer, try to be careful while we're here. The law doesn't seem all that different here from home, but I'd still like to make sure neither of us are stepping out of line. I've already met someone who's come from an interesting if slightly terrifying law enforcement background, and I'd like to minimize any possible worries in that department.

[He watched her sip her wine, enjoying the way her mouth moved and how her tongue came out to sweep over her lip. He really just enjoyed watching her in general.]

It does. I'm not about to start a criminal empire. I didn't do that back home. Most of what I did was on the up and up. Well, aside from the drugs, but that's due to the whole prudishness about how much fun a body can have.

Yeah, well, I know if there's one think you're hoping for, it's for things to sink in.

[She tried to keep a straight face at that, something in the back of her head that sounded suspiciously like a laughing Maze making her take another particularly long sip of her wine.]

Uh huh, sure. I'm not saying you would, but it doesn't hurt to play it safe. We can't do fun things like this if you've gotten yourself in trouble, can we?

[A bite of his lower lip before he took a sip of his own drink, amused that she'd sink down to his level of humor.]

[A pause, running through that statement again.]

Wait. Don't say a single word. And we may have a different definition of 'fun things', because most of the times I think about us being in trouble are being in front of a loaded gun.

[He was enjoying this, and with another laugh, he pointed at something on the menu.]

They've got something here I haven't heard of before, but someone told me it was akin to a mix between a lizard and a chicken. Don't get all American on me and say eww about it. Live a little, love.

[Cease and desist. This was library levels of poor flirting tactics. What was in this wine?

She glanced down at the item he was referring to, brows rising slowly as she took that description in.]

Excuse you, Mr. Posh British Gentleman, but that's a wild assumption you're making about my American sensibilities. I'm sure plenty of us would be happy to eat lizard, especially if it tasted like chicken.

[He was chuckling as he set his wine down, amused as always by her.]

Lizard does taste like chicken, love. Ever had alligator? Crocodile? Iguana. All very tasty if cooked right. Shall we go for this, then? You can put me right in my place. Very stern-like.

Mmm, we'll have to see about that.

[She liked this. This easy banter back and forth that'd taken on a new dimension.]

I've had alligator before, though it's been awhile. I wouldn't mind giving this a try, though I don't know what you're talking about with putting you in your place.

[In answer to that, he let his eyes drift down over her body, twisting a little to see under the table, his foot nudging hers.]

I think you're well aware of where I'd like my place to be.

[A wink, then he gestured for the waiter who was waiting discreetly through their foreplay to come over, pointing at what they'd agreed on and getting assurances it would be more than to their liking. The menus were whisked away and he sipped at his wine.]

Intimately aware, you could say.

[That roaming look he gave her had a soft flush rising over her body; one she hoped he either didn't see or attributed to the alcohol. But then she felt his foot nudging hers, and she pursed her lips and carefully did the same, a minute little gesture that she tried to do casually so that the wait staff didn't think their patrons were playing footsies under the table.

Because that would be silly.

But with their food ordered, it left them with some time to chat. Or tease each other relentlessly. So while he still was sipping at his wine—]

So, did that ice help the swelling go down, by the way?

[He almost snorted into his wine, laughing as he set it down and swallowed before he choked on it.]

Not nearly as quickly as I'd hoped for.

[Because of course he was going to answer her honestly about that.]

Had the bloody thing on for over an hour before it wasn't propping itself up.

I'm so sorry.

[And she meant that genuinely, too, one of her hands lightly covering her mouth to try and stifle her amusement. She'd seen the state she'd left him in, and it wasn't pretty. And yet... well, they were in polite company. That wasn't exactly an appropriate question to ask.]

You, uh, don't... [She made a circular gesture at him.] ...seems like there might've been an easier way to take care of that.

What?

[It took him a moment, but then he rolled his eyes, sitting back and tapping on the top of the table.]

Having a wank? Not exactly my preference. I prefer my pleasure to involve someone else. Otherwise you're just going through the motions. A little discomfort won't kill me, even with you in the same building. I prefer the real thing, thank you.

[Well, alright, Lucifer, just toss it out there for everyone to overhear.

Still, the idea of him being mildly offended at the mere suggestion was both thoroughly confusing and yet oddly hilarious. She eyed him for a moment, assessing him and that admission before she snorted incredulously.]

Seriously? You really don't...? You?

[She should know by now that he had absolutely no shame. If she wanted him to, he'd drop trow then and there and finish their meal nude while talking about all the things he'd like to do to her. He picked up his glass and took a sip before answering.]

Why would I? One wanks because one can't partake of something with someone else, yes? Generally, I can. It's only recently that my needs have been... unseen. Though, considering I'd be thinking of you if I ever did, I'm wondering if that's not what you're looking for...?

I just wouldn't've expected that from you. You're always all about indulgence and doing whatever you think is fun that the idea of that being the one thing you choose not to do is just surprising, honestly.

[The mention of his 'unseen needs' catches her attention, though, along with the rest of that statement. She raises her brows at him, an open look of confusion on her face.]

What? That I'd likely be thinking of you if I was trying to polish one out the other night?
