[She put her phone down, a ridiculous little smile on her face as she went about getting ready for the evening. Hopefully they'd have a successful night for once.]
[For the rest of the day, Lucifer would be in a rather giddy mood, grooming and preening himself along with double checking that everything was as it should be. He'd made reservations for both dinner and a car to drive them, having poked around and found the place that seemed to win the consensus of 'most romantic restaurant in the city'. It wasn't quite the same as LA standards, but it would have to do for their purposes.
Humming to himself, he was at the door to the communal room she shared at five to seven, knocking with one hand hidden behind his back.]
[Her mood was similar, though there was a note of apprehension there as she went about deciding what to wear. And honestly, considering the predicament they were in, it felt a little ridiculous for her to be doing something as mundane as going on a date. But it also wasn't a date with just anyone, and this felt... needed, somehow. Necessary. Or maybe that was just her hormones getting the best of her, which were apparently throwing her back into her ridiculous teenager stage. In a stairwell, honestly.
Nevertheless, she figured that since he enjoyed all the pomp and making a spectacle, she may as well dress for the occasion. Dinner and dancing included. So when she opened the door, she wasprepared, a smile touching her lips as she greeted him.]
[She truly was a miracle -- capable of making the Devil speechless as she opened the door and showed him, once again, that she could rival the stars themselves for how lovely she could look. He stared for a moment, caught off guard in the most pleasant of ways before he snapped back to himself, hand coming out from behind his back to hand her a single rose, eyes caught on her as he did.]
[A small, almost sheepish smile while she dipped her head down at his compliment. Though once she saw him pull something from behind his back, she glanced up in surprise at his gift, another smile lighting her face as she accepted it gratefully.]
It's beautiful. Thank you. I'd... invite you inside, but figured we'd both rather head out.
[He'd been distracted from staring at her, looking up at her blankly before he was brought back to reality. Then he smiled, turning a little and offering her his arm.]
Yes, yes. Of course. There's a car downstairs. I, ah, we could take the lift-- where did you get those boots? They're... well. They're very nice.
[She had smashing legs, and that short skirt was making that a very obvious fact.]
I've never really thought about it, honestly. My bag is homicide, so I don't know how much traction or authority either of us would have in that regard. I'd be willing to discuss the idea more, though.
Yes, that was my concern as well. Being in inspector I've covered many different types, it's just..
I think what brings this up is a while ago someone approached me independently re: someone pushing suspicious drugs and etc. They decided not to pursue it, but I wonder if people may be more will to approach us if we're not proper 'law enforcement' so to speak.
Some people seem to have a 'thing' regarding that.
A distrust of law enforcement was pretty common where I'm from too. Did they specify why going to the cops wasn't something they wanted? Most of the people here seem to be pretty responsive, as far as I can tell. Even PI work would involve working with the department to some extent, after all.
[She's certainly not against it, but she's not the type to leap before looking. She likes making sure she has all the information to make a smart decision.]
No, it wasn't him that really had a problem. He backed down when I asked if he would be willing to go along with it for a little while as a fact finding mission. I would have done it myself but, really, I don't think I'd stand a chance blending in with those types.
It just seems to be a more general trend. I think I noticed it here because it's not at all like that in my world. Or, wasn't, I should say.
True. I don't mind the department, so to speak, but having only done department work I'd also like to know what it's like to work on your own.
Tell you what. I don't plan on leaving the department at this time, but how about I help you with it on a part-time basis for now? Sort of like a trial run. Is that doable?
[They'll certainly have much to talk about, between this PI business and, if pressed, her newfound abilities. Who knows -- may even be helpful for whatever they're doing.]

[There was a part of him that flashed a smile at the fact they'd both used phrasing that in another situation, was rather binding.]
Would you do me the honor of allowing me to escort you to a lovely night of dining and dancing?

[He couldn't see her grin, but she it was there, though she decided to make it known with her next text.]
When? :)

Tonight at 7?

Yes. I'll see you at 7.

Chloe. I had a thought and somewhat of a question...
What are your thoughts about doing private investigation here in the Quarantine?
The police force seems largely quiet so far as I can tell but I'd thought striking out may work a little more toward keeping me occupied.

[ Plus that sounds right up her alley, really. ]

And you want me. As some kind of partner?
no subject
If you'd be willing. No hard feelings if not, of course. There are risks involved in striking out on your own after all.
no subject
no subject
I think that's fair.
If you want we can meet at my apartment for coffee to talk in person about it, sometime, away from the department?
no subject
no subject
Fine by me. I'll have coffee ready.
