[He smiled then, bright and quick as he reached for her hand. Just to hold it. Just because he could.]

[She sighed and shook her head, though she couldn't hide the soft smile gracing her features as she held his hand in return.]

I suppose I like you well enough.

[Guess who looked entirely too pleased with themselves? This guy.

And that look didn't go away as the car pulled up to the curb in front of a rather swanky looking hotel. The door was opened and Lucifer moved to get out, shooing away the valet standing there and holding his hand out for Chloe to come with him.]

My dear.

[She bit her lip as he shooed the poor man away, feeling it twitch up in amusement. She may have said he wasn't cute, but he was doing this with so much obvious enjoyment and excitement that she found it rubbing off on her.

Alright. So he's a little adorable. Sue her.

She took his hand, using him as a guide as she scooted out of the car.]

Did you strike some deal to get us booked here too?

I may have inquired as to whether there was a room available, should one be needed at some point.

[He drew her to her feet, kissing her hand before lowering it to keep it in his, leading her up towards the hotel proper.]

I'm sure there's a free rooftop or stairwell should they not have any openings.

[Said breezily as she followed after him, doing her best to keep a straight face.]

[He laughed, nudging her with his shoulder before the reached the door, which was helpfully held open for them.]

Minx. I almost have a feeling you'd prefer that.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

[She nudged him back, an easy brush of her shoulder against his as her fingers tightened around him. Once inside, she took note of the elegant decor, the dimmed lighting, the quiet murmur of voices as people went about their evening, some of them couples smiling and drinking wine as they enjoyed themselves.

She knew Maze liked to tease her about not getting laid in awhile, but it'd been... a long time since she's had much of anything after her separation with Dan. It's nice, just being here with him. As one of the waiters directed them to their table, she glanced over at his face, a warm kind of fondness resting in her breast at the sound of his laughter.]

I haven't been to a place like this in a long time.

[And no, she didn't count their failed date back in LA.]

You should go anywhere you please. No reason for it to have to be a date, if you just want to enjoy the ambiance. I never did understand why there were all these rules to follow when you could just... do as you please because you wanted to.

[Still, it was nice to see that look on her face, and that it was directed at him because he was making her happy. They were led to their table and he drew out her seat for her, pressing a kiss to the top of her head when she was seated before he went to his own.]

Wine? Or would you prefer champagne?

Ah, but it's hard to just find the time or justification for it when you've got a kid waiting for you at home. Besides, while I technically could just come to places like this on my own, it's not quite the same without company.

[Him and his easy way of living. It caused her such exasperation at times and gentle admiration during others. Nevertheless, she did have responsibilities, but she didn't have to think about those right now. Not tonight. Almost regretfully, she let his hand slide away from hers as he went to take his seat, covertly brushing it along her skirt.]

Mm. Wine would be nice.

[He whispered something to the waiter, then slid a menu over to her.]

Something like a blush? That should go well with whatever you like on the menu.

[He picked up his own menu, taking a look before peeking at her over the top of it.]

You do look utterly ravishing tonight, Chloe. I truly hope you enjoy yourself.

[Someone looking on might've found them either ridiculous or adorable, depending on their perspective, if they were watching them peeking at each other over their menus.

She smiled at him, having a difficult time focusing on the selections. He's complimented her for the what? Fourth, fifth time?]

I already am. You look smooth and great as usual. Is that a new suit, by the way?

It is. All of them are here. I was fortunate enough to find someone with skill in tailoring close enough to what I'm used to. Not like they're familiar with Armani or Kiton here. But I think they did well enough. I'm pleased you like it. I'll have to get a few more.

[Lucifer didn't give a rat's ass what anyone else was thinking of them. At that moment, all that mattered was her and her enjoyment. And so far, it seemed she was actually having a good time.]

Don't do it on my account. I'm just saying, you look good.

[Soon enough, their waiter arrived with their wine, pouring them each a glass before sitting them on the table.]

It sounds like you've already found a bunch of connections here. Not that I'd expect any less from someone who set up an entire identity and such a successful nightclub from scratch in five years.

Oh, not just on your account. I like looking good. I do it so well.

[A wink, because clearly Lucifer was still in little shit mode.]

Well, I've been around the block a few times. Identities aren't hard when you know the people who can get you the right paperwork. Same idiot that helped out Malcolm when he tried to slither away. Every city's got an underbelly, love. LA's is just predictable.

Don't forget the bit about how humble you are, too.

[Said with a teasing tone, a soft glint in her eye as she did so.]

Right. And you just happen to know just where to go to find said underbelly. Benny Choi comes to mind. [Him and his deals.] Either way, I'm glad to see you're making friends. Or allies, anyhow.

Humility is a lie. Anyone who's gorgeous who says they're just 'all right' is a liar. You, my dear, are beyond lovely and any time you say you're just 'good', you're being willfully obtuse.

[He shrugged, reaching for his glass of wine to hold up to her.]

You'd be surprised how easy getting things are if you just ask. And it likely helps that before you, I had no ties to the law.

I don't believe I've ever said one way or another, but I appreciate the compliments. I did hear you the first six times, though. I'm wondering how many times you're going to tell me that.

[She picked up her own glass to softly clink it against his before taking a sip.]

Having your whole mojo thing probably helps, too. Honestly, though, Lucifer, try to be careful while we're here. The law doesn't seem all that different here from home, but I'd still like to make sure neither of us are stepping out of line. I've already met someone who's come from an interesting if slightly terrifying law enforcement background, and I'd like to minimize any possible worries in that department.

Likely a hundred more tonight. Until it sinks in.

[He watched her sip her wine, enjoying the way her mouth moved and how her tongue came out to sweep over her lip. He really just enjoyed watching her in general.]

It does. I'm not about to start a criminal empire. I didn't do that back home. Most of what I did was on the up and up. Well, aside from the drugs, but that's due to the whole prudishness about how much fun a body can have.

Yeah, well, I know if there's one think you're hoping for, it's for things to sink in.

[She tried to keep a straight face at that, something in the back of her head that sounded suspiciously like a laughing Maze making her take another particularly long sip of her wine.]

Uh huh, sure. I'm not saying you would, but it doesn't hurt to play it safe. We can't do fun things like this if you've gotten yourself in trouble, can we?

... Chloe! Well played. I'm impressed. And in complete agreement. Lots of things to sink in.

[A bite of his lower lip before he took a sip of his own drink, amused that she'd sink down to his level of humor.]

Love, we can do fun things anytime we please. Being in trouble can just be part of it.

I'd like to think you haven't rubbed off on me after all this time, but unfortunately, that might not be the case.

[A pause, running through that statement again.]

Wait. Don't say a single word. And we may have a different definition of 'fun things', because most of the times I think about us being in trouble are being in front of a loaded gun.

Mm, rubbing off. You're just full of it tonight, aren't you?

[He was enjoying this, and with another laugh, he pointed at something on the menu.]

They've got something here I haven't heard of before, but someone told me it was akin to a mix between a lizard and a chicken. Don't get all American on me and say eww about it. Live a little, love.

I'm not full of anything yet, as far as I know.

[Cease and desist. This was library levels of poor flirting tactics. What was in this wine?

She glanced down at the item he was referring to, brows rising slowly as she took that description in.]

Excuse you, Mr. Posh British Gentleman, but that's a wild assumption you're making about my American sensibilities. I'm sure plenty of us would be happy to eat lizard, especially if it tasted like chicken.

Yet being the key word, darling.

[He was chuckling as he set his wine down, amused as always by her.]

Lizard does taste like chicken, love. Ever had alligator? Crocodile? Iguana. All very tasty if cooked right. Shall we go for this, then? You can put me right in my place. Very stern-like.
